こんにちは！高校2年生の宋友嘉、立川璃々子、石田直次郎、川口理央です。

2025年夏休み、私たちは三菱鉛筆株式会社の品川本社と群馬工場にて、4日間の対面インターンシップに挑戦しました。今回、その活動内容と経験から得た学びをご紹介します。

今回のインターンは、社長さんとのご縁から「三菱鉛筆でインターンをしたい」と思い、希望を伝えたところから始まりました。その後、担当の方とZoomで打ち合わせを重ね、実際のプログラムを組み立てていただきました。この過程自体が、私たちにとって大きな学びになりました。私たち4人は理系志望として、企画開発や化学系（インクなど）の研究開発をテーマとした実践的なプログラムに取り組みました。

実際のプログラムでは、次のようなことに挑戦しました。

-新しいuni-ball oneのアソート作り

-ポスカを使ったトートバッグへのペイント体験

-EMOTTのインク調合

-uni-ball oneのインク調合・組み立て

-ポスカの固着性に関する実験

これらの活動を通して、私たちが日常的に使用している製品がどのようなプロセスを経て開発されているのかを理解することができました。また、ランチタイムには社員の方から、研究の中での難しさや失敗、やりがいについてもお話を伺うことができました。

インターンを通して、企画開発職や研究開発職の具体的な仕事内容、そして製品の裏側にある工夫や努力を知ることができました。学校で日々学んでいる教科の学びが、大学での専攻や将来の研究・商品開発の現場にどのようにつながっていくのかを実感できたことは、大きな収穫でした。学校で取り組んでいる学びが社会で生かされ、身近な製品の「当たり前」を支えていることに気づけたのは、忘れられない発見です。

さらに、研究開発に携わる社員の方々の姿から、熱量を持って一つのことに向き合うことの大切さを学びました。また、自分の興味や関心を追求する姿勢や、好きな仕事を見つけて打ち込む姿は、私たち自身の進路や日々の学習にも大きな刺激を与えてくれました。

インターンで学んだことを、これからの学校生活や進路に活かしていきたいと思います。普段できない体験ばかりで、とても楽しく、あっという間の4日間でした！三菱鉛筆株式会社の皆さま、本当にありがとうございました！

Hello! We are So Yuka, Tatsukawa Ririko, Ishida Naojiro, and Kawaguchi Rio, second-year high school students.

During the summer vacation of 2025, we took on a four-day in-person internship at Mitsubishi Pencil Co., Ltd.’s Shinagawa headquarters and Gunma factory. This time, we share the activities we participated in and what we learned from the experience.

This internship began when we expressed our desire to intern at Mitsubishi Pencil, inspired by a connection with the company president. After that, we held multiple Zoom meetings with the person in charge, who helped us build the program. This process itself was a significant learning experience for us. As students interested in science fields, the four of us worked on a practical program focused on planning and development, as well as chemical research and development (like ink).

During the actual program, we challenged ourselves with the following:

– Creating new assortments for the uni-ball one

– Painting tote bags using POSCA markers

– Formulating EMOTT ink

– Formulating and assembling uni-ball one ink

– Conducting experiments on POSCA adhesion

Through these activities, we gained insight into the development processes behind products we use daily. During lunchtime, employees also shared stories about the challenges, failures, and rewards they encounter in their research.

Through this internship, I gained insight into the specific duties of planning/development and R&D roles, as well as the ingenuity and effort behind products. Realizing how my daily school studies connect to my university major and future research/product development work was a major takeaway. Discovering that my academic learning supports the “everyday normality” of familiar products in society was an unforgettable revelation.

Furthermore, observing the employees engaged in research and development taught me the importance of dedicating oneself passionately to a single pursuit. Their attitude of pursuing their interests and finding work they love to immerse themselves in provided tremendous inspiration for our own career paths and daily studies.

I intend to apply what I learned during this internship to my future school life and career path. It was an incredibly enjoyable four days filled with experiences. Thank you so much to everyone at Mitsubishi Pencil Co., Ltd.!
