What is the International Baccalaureate?

The International Baccalaureate (IB) offers four high quality, challenging educational programmes to students aged 3 to 19.

The IB programmes focus on fostering critical thinking and building problem-solving skills, while encouraging diversity, international mindedness, curiosity, and a healthy appetite for learning and excellence.

An IB education provides students distinct advantages as they enter a world where asking the right questions is as important as discovering answers. For over 50 years, our global community of world class educators and coordinators engage with more than 1.4 million students in over 5,300 schools across 158 countries.

What is an IB World School?

In order to offer one or more International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes of education, schools must complete an authorization process. Once they have been authorized, they are known as IB World Schools.

In October 2020, our school became an IB World School.
This is the first public school in western Japan and the second accreditation in Japan.

What is MYP?

The Middle Years Program (MYP) is for students aged 11-16.
At our school, we work on this program from the first grade of junior high school to the winter of the first grade of high school.
The MYP curriculum framework comprises eight subject groups, providing a broad and balanced education for early adolescents.
The MYP requires at least 50 hours of teaching time for each subject group, in each year of the programme. In the final two years of the programme, carefully-defined subject group flexibility allows students to meet local requirements and personal learning goals.

At our school, each subject offers classes that make the most of the framework of the IB.
We introduce one frame of the class of the first grade of junior high school of individual and society (social studies) with the following video.
