HiGAでは今年から「Academic Writing」という授業を開始しました。初回は、生徒各々が好きなものを紙に何個も書き出し、周りの人と共有しました。互いに好きなものが共通していた際は、ハイタッチをして、「〇〇がいいよね」と言い合うことで、自分の気持ちを言葉で表現する力を身につけます。２回目の授業では、自分の好きなものについて宣伝記事を書く課題に取り組み、説得力のある文章を書く力を高めました。また、各自が『ジャパンナレッジSchool』から選んだWeb記事を評価し、批判的思考力も高めました。この授業を通して私たちは、主に文の書き方について教わり、自らが文を使って意見を表現する方法を学んでいます。
This year, HiGA has been teaching a new subject called ‘Academic Writing’ to its students. In the first session, each student wrote down several things that they liked on a piece of paper and shared them with the students around them. When they found that they liked something in common with each other, they high fived each other and had a conversation such as “I like this part”. Here, the students were able to realize that they had developed the ability to express their feelings in words. In the second session, they worked on a task to write a promotional article about their favorite things and improved their ability to write persuasive sentences. We also improved our critical thinking skills by evaluating web articles chosen by each of us from the Japan Knowledge School from a chosen point of view. Through this class we learned primarily about sentence writing and how to express our opinions using our own sentences.
