Wakayama Prefecture Data Utilization Competition

On Saturday, December 14, two students from our school participated in the final judging of the 8th Wakayama Prefecture Data Utilization Competition held in Wakayama Prefecture. The presentation was titled “Setouchi 2040 ‘Island of Connections’ Concept in Osakikamijima” and was about the ideal town in 2040. The judges commented that the way the data was compiled was very impressive. As a result, they received the Data Utilization Award. They had a chance to interact with students from other schools and learned a lot from this competition.

A sexual education lecture for high school students was held

On Wednesday, November 27, a sexual education lecture for high school students was held online. Dr. Sachiko Takahashi, Assistant Professor at Saitama Medical University, Medical Human Resource Development Support Center and Center for the Promotion of Community Medicine, obstetrics and gynecology physician, gave a lecture titled “Correct Knowledge Will Protect You. A Sexual Education Lecture that Will Surely Be Useful Someday”. In a cheerful atmosphere, many students were able to “see it as their own business” as they were given correct knowledge about menstruation, ejaculation, dating, pregnancy, contraception, and how they should act in right ways. Exchange with Mr. Nakano, Deaflympics Athlete

On November 25th (Monday), an exchange event was held with Mr. Nakano, an athlete who will be competing in the marathon at the Deaflympics. During the session, Mr. Nakano shared how he developed an interest in track and field, his experiences at the Deaflympics, and his training in Kenya. His story of overcoming challenges as a deaf athlete and succeeding on the global stage was truly inspiring. The event also provided a valuable opportunity to learn about new forms of communication. We look forward to Mr. Nakano’s continued success at the 2025 Deaflympics in Tokyo!

G12 Special PHE(Part 2)

On Thursday, November 21, we climbed Mt.Kannomine. We rode bicycles and walked from HiGA to the summit of Mt Kannomine. For some of the students, it was their first time to climb Mt Kannomine. From the top, we had a great view of Osakigamijima, where we have studied for six years, and the HiGA school building.

Autumn Festival 2024

On Thursday, November 14, the Autumn Festival was held as a dormitory event. During the talent show, many students performed instruments, songs, and dances to the delight of the audience. There were loud cheers from those watching, and everyone from G7 to G12 enjoyed the event as one! With the energy recharge we got from the event, we’re ready to get through the remaining days of 2024!

G12 Special PHE(Part 1)

On November 15th, G12 students experienced camp within PHE class. We formed groups of 4 to 5 people and had the experience of setting up tents and making carton dogs, which are hot dogs in milk cartons, bamboo skewers and milk carton plates, etc. We were able to learn about physical health education from different perspectives through various activities in the camp experience, which we cannot do in our regular class.

The first HiGA PROM was held !

On Saturday 9th November , we held a prom for the G12 students. This is common in Western culture, and the G11 students planned the event as a way of expressing their gratitude to their seniors. The venue was decorated in a glamorous style, and the G12 students gathered there dressed in dresses and suits, enjoying a special moment in an atmosphere that was different from their usual surroundings. There were also dance and music performances, and the whole venue was filled with smiles and applause. This prom was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our graduating seniors. Congratulations everyone!

2023 2nd Term Closing Ceremony

On Tuesday, December 19th, we held the 2nd term closing ceremony. During the closing ceremony, Principal Fukushima reflected on the second semester and gave advice to the students, who are busy with their daily activities, on how to deal with “capacity overload(the state in which a load exceeds one’s capacity)” encouraging them to “Make an effort to gradually increase your capacity and control it well so that it does not become overcapacity.” He also concluded the second semester by telling them to say to their parents, “Thank you” from the bottom of their heart for their daily support, and to come back to school on the day they return to …
