On Saturday, March 1, the first high school graduation ceremony was held with the attendance of many people who have helped the school. We would like to thank all the people who have been involved in the preparation for the opening of our school and for all the support they have given us. Today, the 45 graduates will leave our school, where they have spent three or six years, and move on to the next stage of their lives. We hope that they will be leaders who can create a “better future” for their communities and the world, wherever they may be in the world, by utilizing the various qualities

On Friday, February 14, we held an exchange event with junior high school students and a geography class for first and second year high school students, inviting a total of seven lecturers, including globally active researchers, entrepreneurs, members of society involved in international support, and students learning about the environment.  A total of seven lecturers were invited to this event, including internationally active researchers and entrepreneurs, working people involved in international support, and students studying environmental issues.  About 30 students participated in an exchange session with the junior high school students during their lunch break, where they were divided into groups for each lecturer and engaged in lively dialogue.  From

We welcomed 6 students (who will graduate on Saturday, March 1st) from G12 to our Career Roundtable. It was a great opportunity for the current students to learn about the IBDP and the challenges they have faced so far, such as applying to universities in Japan and abroad. We hope that the current students will continue to develop the school based on the foundation that the 1st graduates have built so far.

An article about Tamae Kurogi, a G12 student, was published in the Chugoku Shinbun newspaper. She is the only high school student serving as an expert member of the Council for Children and Families. (Published on page 26 of the morning edition of January 8, 2025)

On Wednesday, December 18, the third-year high school students gave their final presentation on “Solutions to Global Issues”, which they worked on in the class. Ms. Kanae Shinjo from JICA Chugoku Center was invited to the presentation, where the students presented the results of their research.  After the presentations, Ms. Shinjo gave detailed feedback to the students, who listened with eager expressions on their faces. After the presentations, a round-table discussion was held with Ms. Shinjo, where students actively asked questions about their international interests and careers, and had a meaningful time.

On Friday,December13th, as part of our PE class, the G12 students went ice-skating at Hiroshin Big Wave in Hiroshima City. It was a rare opportunity for the G12 to spend time with their HiGA peers, so we all worked hard to make memories. By the end of the session, even those who couldn’t skate at the beginning were able to enjoy ice skating with the help of their teachers and other students who could skate. Some students skated for the first time.

On Saturday, December 14, two students from our school participated in the final judging of the 8th Wakayama Prefecture Data Utilization Competition held in Wakayama Prefecture. The presentation was titled “Setouchi 2040 ‘Island of Connections’ Concept in Osakikamijima” and was about the ideal town in 2040. The judges commented that the way the data was compiled was very impressive. As a result, they received the Data Utilization Award. They had a chance to interact with students from other schools and learned a lot from this competition.

On Wednesday, November 27, a sexual education lecture for high school students was held online. Dr. Sachiko Takahashi, Assistant Professor at Saitama Medical University, Medical Human Resource Development Support Center and Center for the Promotion of Community Medicine, obstetrics and gynecology physician, gave a lecture titled “Correct Knowledge Will Protect You. A Sexual Education Lecture that Will Surely Be Useful Someday”.  In a cheerful atmosphere, many students were able to “see it as their own business” as they were given correct knowledge about menstruation, ejaculation, dating, pregnancy, contraception, and how they should act in right ways. On November 25th (Monday), an exchange event was held with Mr. Nakano, an athlete who will be competing in the marathon at the Deaflympics. During the session, Mr. Nakano shared how he developed an interest in track and field, his experiences at the Deaflympics, and his training in Kenya. His story of overcoming challenges as a deaf athlete and succeeding on the global stage was truly inspiring. The event also provided a valuable opportunity to learn about new forms of communication. We look forward to Mr. Nakano’s continued success at the 2025 Deaflympics in Tokyo!
