On Thursday, November 21, we climbed Mt.Kannomine. We rode bicycles and walked from HiGA to the summit of Mt Kannomine. For some of the students, it was their first time to climb Mt Kannomine. From the top, we had a great view of Osakigamijima, where we have studied for six years, and the HiGA school building.

On Thursday, November 14, the Autumn Festival was held as a dormitory event. During the talent show, many students performed instruments, songs, and dances to the delight of the audience. There were loud cheers from those watching, and everyone from G7 to G12 enjoyed the event as one! With the energy recharge we got from the event, we’re ready to get through the remaining days of 2024!

On November 15th, G12 students experienced camp within PHE class. We formed groups of 4 to 5 people and had the experience of setting up tents and making carton dogs, which are hot dogs in milk cartons, bamboo skewers and milk carton plates, etc. We were able to learn about physical health education from different perspectives through various activities in the camp experience, which we cannot do in our regular class.

On Saturday 9th November , we held a prom for the G12 students. This is common in Western culture, and the G11 students planned the event as a way of expressing their gratitude to their seniors. The venue was decorated in a glamorous style, and the G12 students gathered there dressed in dresses and suits, enjoying a special moment in an atmosphere that was different from their usual surroundings. There were also dance and music performances, and the whole venue was filled with smiles and applause. This prom was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our graduating seniors. Congratulations everyone!

On Tuesday, December 19th, we held the 2nd term closing ceremony. During the closing ceremony, Principal Fukushima reflected on the second semester and gave advice to the students, who are busy with their daily activities, on how to deal with “capacity overload(the state in which a load exceeds one’s capacity)” encouraging them to “Make an effort to gradually increase your capacity and control it well so that it does not become overcapacity.” He also concluded the second semester by telling them to say to their parents, “Thank you” from the bottom of their heart for their daily support, and to come back to school on the day they return to

As part of the Kakehashi Project (U.S.A.), an international exchange program promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, students from Hayfield Secondary School in the U.S.A., which our students visited in February this year, came to our school and enjoyed the one-day exchange program with our students in each grade. In the Japanese class for G10 (the 1st year high school) students, they chose their favorite words and made original uchiwa (Japanese fans) using calligraphy brushes. In the lunch break time, Hayfield students introduced their school in Japanese to G11 (the 2nd year high school) students, and the students of both schools danced together.  In addition, they had

On Wednesday, October 18, the 2023 open class was held. In the grade 8 mathematics class, a lesson on the validity of logic was given through the proof of congruence of triangles. In the grade 10 history class, each group presented what they had explored on a topic of their choice and deepened their own ideas through discussion. We will continue to open our classes with each other in order to improve our classes.

On Thursday, August 31, we held the 2023 Fall Entrance  Ceremony and the 2nd term opening ceremony. At the fall entrance ceremony, we welcomed three new students from overseas. We look forward to working with them to develop more diverse learning environment in the future. During the opening ceremony, our principal encouraged our students by quoting words from novelist Yasushi Inoue “Those who work hard talk about hope, and those who slack off complain”.

On Friday, July 28, 2023, the closing ceremony for the first semester of the 2023 school year was held. The closing ceremony was a time for students to reflect on the first semester and to think about how they will spend their time during the summer vacation. During the ceremony, in our principal address, he told them “It is important to live with a sense of gratitude or thankfulness for the things we take for granted in our daily life.” In the students’ representative address, one of the grade 10 students reflected on the sports festival as part of cultural exchange event and the new challenges of their high school
