Our school recently hosted a special outreach lesson on electron microscopy, welcoming instructors from JEOL Ltd. During the session, students learned about the principles and applications of electron microscopes through an engaging and easy-to-understand lecture.
In the hands-on portion, students had the opportunity to operate an electron microscope themselves. They observed fascinating microstructures such as an ant’s body, animal hair, and microorganisms that are normally invisible to the human eye. As the highly detailed images appeared on the screen, students reacted with excitement and amazement, carefully manipulating the equipment while discovering an entirely new world.
This invaluable experience allowed students to interact directly with professional scientific instruments, fostering a deeper curiosity and motivation toward science.
